This workshop provides an efficient, systematic approach for strategically managing your reading and develop your note-taking skills. Whether it is your weekly reading or reading for your assessments, you will find it easier if you read and take notes with purpose. Using a sample text, we will apply top reading strategies and note-taking techniques to help you learn how to get the most out of your sources.

Fern Hyde

Dr Fern Hyde is the Senior Manager, Academic Competencies and Digital Capabilities, where she leads the Academic Skills team. She has over 20 years of experience working in education, with expertise in language and literacy teaching and Teaching English as an Additional Language (EAL/D). She has taught in all levels of education from 3 year old children through to pre-service teachers to doctoral students, and delivered professional development. Fern's PhD was in Education from the University of Canberra. Prior to joining ANU in December 2023, Fern led the Researcher Development program at UC, including convening PhD course work unit 'Practice of Research'.
