Learn how to achieve balance, gain resilience, maintain motivation, and prioritise and plan your time effectively 

Doing well at university is about more than just academic performance. Striking the right balance is important for ensuring your well-being and academic success.  

This workshop will provide tips on how to achieve balance, gain resilience, develop the right mindset, deal with setbacks, and maintain motivation. This session will also provide strategies for identifying how and when you study best, how to prioritise and plan your time, balance competing tasks, and how to make time for your life outside of university.

Fern Hyde

Dr Fern Hyde is the Senior Manager, Academic Competencies and Digital Capabilities, where she leads the Academic Skills team. She has over 20 years of experience working in education, with expertise in language and literacy teaching and Teaching English as an Additional Language (EAL/D). She has taught in all levels of education from 3 year old children through to pre-service teachers to doctoral students, and delivered professional development. Fern's PhD was in Education from the University of Canberra. Prior to joining ANU in December 2023, Fern led the Researcher Development program at UC, including convening PhD course work unit 'Practice of Research'.
