Introduction to GIS Analysis for Research (GIS401) In-Person

Introduction to GIS Analysis for Research introduces a range of core analytic and spatial skills for research. This course introduces GIS skills through a series of online lectures, and then applies this knowledge via in-person hands-on labs. This course assumes you have completed GIS400 or have prior experience with ArcGIS Pro.

What: This course comprises 4 x 2hr weekly modules that introduce a range of core analytic and spatial skills for research. Having completed this course, you will be able to assess proximity, count the number of features in an area, summarise and map census data, and use network analysis to calculate distances along roads.

When: In-person lab sessions are run at 9:00am to 12:00pm on the 12, 19 and 26 September and 3 October at 9am – 12pm.

Where: Location TBC

Participation in all sessions is required for this course. By registering for this event, we assume your attendance for all 4 weeks.

Software requirements: Personal laptop with ArcGIS Pro installed*.

*There will be a limited number of university PCs available during the lab sessions.
