Academic Skills appointments give students the opportunity to have individualised one-to-one feedback on their work.
Writing Coaches are experienced academic writers who advise undergraduate and postgraduate coursework students on any aspect of the scholarly writing process. Writing Coaches can help with breaking down the question, formulating a persuasive argument, structuring the piece, effective paragraphing, and clear academic expression. Book in with a Writing Coach to work through a draft of your work, or to get some ideas about getting started.
Learning Advisers are highly trained and experienced academic writers who are available to assist all students. An appointment with a Learning Adviser can give you in-depth feedback on your writing from a non-disciplinary perspective, providing a fresh view of your argument, structure, paragraphs and sentences. You can chat to an Adviser about other aspects of your work, such as project milestones, research proposals, reading strategies, thesis structuring, chapter writing, seminar presentations and journal article preparation.
More information on appointment types is available on the Academic Skills website.
Please note that there are limits to our Academic Skills booking system to ensure an equitable distribution of appointments among ANU students. Students can book up to one hour of appointments per week with Academic Skills (for example, one Learning Adviser appointment or two Writing Coach appointments). Any bookings that exceed this limit may be cancelled.
Support is available to current ANU students and staff, no matter where you are studying. Note: students with enquiries about Crawford School of Public Policy courses should book appointments with Crawford's Academic Skills Advisers.
This page displays appointments that are available within the next fortnight. If no convenient time is shown, please check again as new times will become available.
